  1  1    Amend Senate File 132 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 22 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  Section 321.34, subsection 9, Code
  1  5 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1  6    9.  LEASED VEHICLES.  Registration plates under
  1  7 this section, including disabled veteran plates
  1  8 specified in section 321.166, may be issued to the
  1  9 lessee of a motor vehicle if the lessee provides
  1 10 evidence of a lease for a period of more than sixty
  1 11 days and if the lessee complies with the requirements,
  1 12 under this section, for issuance of the specific
  1 13 registration plates."
  1 14    #2.  Page 3, by inserting after line 4 the
  1 15 following:
  1 16    "Sec.    .  Section 321.105, unnumbered paragraph
  1 17 5, Code 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1 18    Seriously disabled veterans who have been are
  1 19 eligible to be provided with an automobile or other
  1 20 vehicle by the United States government under the
  1 21 provisions of sections 1901 to 1903, Title 38 of the
  1 22 United States Code, [38 U.S.C. } 1901 et seq.
  1 23 (1970)], shall be exempt from payment of any
  1 24 automobile registration fee provided in this chapter,
  1 25 and shall be provided, without fee, with a
  1 26 registration plate.  The disabled veteran, to be able
  1 27 to claim the above benefit, must be a resident of the
  1 28 state of Iowa and must produce a certificate of title
  1 29 to the automobile owned and registered in this state
  1 30 in the name of said veteran."
  1 31    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
