1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 562A.29B DETERMINATION OF TIME.
1 2 In computing time for purposes of notice and service of
1 3 process pursuant to this chapter, the first day is excluded
1 4 and the last day included, unless the last day falls on
1 5 Sunday, in which case the time prescribed shall be extended to
1 6 include the whole of the following Monday. In the case of
1 7 personal service, the first day is deemed to be the date of
1 8 the personal service. In the case of service by certified or
1 9 restricted certified mail, the first day is deemed to be the
1 10 day after the date of mailing.
1 11 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 562B.27B DETERMINATION OF TIME.
1 12 In computing time for purposes of notice and service of

1 21 EXPLANATION
1 22 This bill provides the method for computing time for giving
1 23 notice and service of process relating to residential real
1 24 estate rentals and mobile home park residential rentals. This
1 25 computation of time is consistent with the computation
1 26 specified in section 4.1, subsection 34. For personal
1 27 service, the first day is considered to be the date of
1 28 personal service, and for service by certified or restricted
1 29 certified mail, the first day is the day after the date of
1 30 mailing.
