1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 461A.3A RESTORE THE OUTDOORS
1 2 PROGRAM.
1 3 1. The department shall establish a restore the outdoors
1 4 program. The purpose of the program is to provide major
1 5 maintenance and infrastructure improvements to existing state
1 6 parks and other public facilities managed by the department.
1 7 2. There is appropriated from the rebuild Iowa
1 8 infrastructure fund created in section 8.57, subsection 5, for
1 9 each fiscal year of the fiscal period beginning July 1, 1997,
1 10 and ending June 30, 2001, the sum of three million dollars to
1 11 the department for use in the restore the outdoors program.
1 12 Notwithstanding section 8.33, unencumbered or unobligated
1 13 moneys remaining at the end of the fiscal year shall not
1 14 revert but shall remain available for expenditure during the
1 15 following fiscal year for purposes of the restore the outdoors
1 16 program.
1 17 The department shall provide in its annual budget
1 18 documentations to the governor and general assembly a report
1 19 on the use of moneys under the program since the last report
1 20 and the projected use of future moneys.
1 21 EXPLANATION
1 22 The bill creates a restore the outdoors program within the
1 23 department of natural resources and appropriates $3,000,000
1 24 for each fiscal year over a four-year period. The purpose of
1 25 the program is to provide major maintenance and infrastructure
1 26 improvements to existing state parks and other public
1 27 facilities managed by the department of natural resources.
1 28 The money is appropriated from the rebuild Iowa infrastructure
1 29 fund.
