1 2 BY MASCHER, MYERS, DODERER, AND FOEGE
1 3 A House Resolution recognizing the centennial anniversary
1 4 of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and
1 5 honoring the women and men affiliated with the University
1 6 of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
1 7 WHEREAS, the first University Hospital on the
1 8 campus of the University of Iowa opened in 1898; and
1 9 WHEREAS, the University of Iowa Hospitals and
1 10 Clinics celebrated its centennial anniversary on
1 11 January 12, 1998; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the University of Iowa Hospitals and
1 13 Clinics has grown into a major statewide medical
1 14 resource dedicated to providing preeminent health care
1 15 services to over one-half million patients annually;
1 16 and
1 17 WHEREAS, the University of Iowa Hospitals and
1 18 Clinics provides outreach programs and supports
1 19 community-based physicians and hospitals contributing
1 20 to enhanced health care services throughout the state;
1 21 and
1 22 WHEREAS, the University of Iowa Hospitals and
1 23 Clinics serves as the primary teaching hospital for
1 24 the University of Iowa and its affiliated
1 25 institutions; and
1 26 WHEREAS, the University of Iowa Hospitals and
1 27 Clinics facilitates innovative research leading to
1 28 improved health care services for the citizens of this
1 29 state, this nation, and other countries; and
1 30 WHEREAS, the women and men affiliated with the
2 1 University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics serve the
2 2 citizens of the state of Iowa with compassion,
2 3 professionalism, and dedication; and
2 4 WHEREAS, the University of Iowa Hospitals and
2 5 Clinics is consistently acclaimed as one of the
2 6 nation's premier hospitals and constitutes a source of
2 7 great pride for the citizens of the state of Iowa; NOW
2 8 THEREFORE,
2 9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE, That the recent
2 10 centennial anniversary of the University of Iowa
2 11 Hospitals and Clinics on January 12, 1998, is
2 12 officially recognized; and
2 13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the citizens of the
2 14 state of Iowa honor the women and men affiliated with
2 15 the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics who have
2 16 contributed to the health and well-being of the
2 17 citizens of this state, of this nation, and of the
2 18 world.
