1 1 Section 1. Section 257.6, subsection 1, Code 1997, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. g. Notwithstanding paragraph "a", for the
1 4 budget year beginning July 1, 2007, pupils enrolled in
1 5 kindergarten on less than a full-time basis shall be counted
1 6 as eight-tenths of one pupil; for the budget year beginning
1 7 July 1, 2008, pupils enrolled in kindergarten on less than a
1 8 full-time basis shall be counted as six-tenths of one pupil;
1 9 and for a budget year beginning on or after July 1, 2009,
1 10 pupils enrolled in kindergarten on less than a full-time basis
1 11 shall be counted as five-tenths of one pupil.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill reduces state aid for pupils who attend
1 14 kindergarten less than a full day.
1 15 Commencing with the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2007,
1 16 pupils enrolled less than full-time are counted as 0.08 of one
1 17 pupil; in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2008, pupils
1 18 enrolled less than full-time count as 0.06 of one pupil; and
1 19 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2009, and in each
1 20 succeeding fiscal year, pupils enrolled shall count as 0.05 of
1 21 one pupil.
