1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 716.9 TRESPASS BY SEX OFFENDERS
1 2 ON SCHOOL GROUNDS.
1 3 1. A person who is required to register under chapter 692A
1 4 shall not enter or remain upon the real property comprising a
1 5 public or nonpublic elementary or secondary school without
1 6 express written permission from the school superintendent.
1 7 2. A person who violates this section commits a simple
1 8 misdemeanor.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill prohibits persons required to register under the
1 11 sex offender registry chapter from entering onto school
1 12 grounds unless the person has received express written
1 13 permission from the school superintendent. A violation of the
1 14 prohibition is a simple misdemeanor. Simple misdemeanors are
1 15 currently punishable by confinement for not more than 30 days
1 16 or a fine of at least $50 but not more than $100.
