  1  1    Section 1.  Section 483A.24, subsection 2, paragraph a,
  1  2 subparagraph (1), Code Supplement 1997, is amended to read as
  1  3 follows:
  1  4    (1)  "Family member" means a resident of Iowa who is the
  1  5 spouse or child of the owner and who resides with the owner or
  1  6 the spouse or child of the tenant and who resides with the
  1  7 owner or tenant.
  1  8    Sec. 2.  Section 483A.24, subsection 2, paragraph b, Code
  1  9 Supplement 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1 10    b.  Upon written application on forms furnished by the
  1 11 department, the department shall issue annually without fee
  1 12 one deer or one wild turkey license, or both, to the owner of
  1 13 a farm unit or to a member of the owner's family, but not to
  1 14 both, and to the tenant or to a member of the tenant's family,
  1 15 but not to both.  Upon written application, the department
  1 16 shall also issue without fee one deer or one wild turkey
  1 17 license, or both, to the owner's spouse.  The deer hunting
  1 18 license or wild turkey hunting license issued shall be valid
  1 19 only on the farm unit for which an applicant qualifies
  1 20 pursuant to this subsection and shall be equivalent to the
  1 21 least restrictive license issued under section 481A.38.  The
  1 22 owner or the tenant need not reside on the farm unit to
  1 23 qualify for a free license to hunt on that farm unit.  
  1 24                           EXPLANATION
  1 25    This bill provides for a free deer hunting license or a
  1 26 free wild turkey hunting license, or both, for a landowner's
  1 27 spouse.
