1 1 Section 1. Section 903A.2, Code Supplement 1997, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 6. Good conduct time accrued by inmates
1 4 serving sentences for convictions which require registration
1 5 under chapter 692A shall not apply to reduce or be credited
1 6 against the inmate's sentence until the inmate has
1 7 satisfactorily completed any sex offender treatment required
1 8 by the director.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill provides that good conduct time earned by an
1 11 inmate who has been convicted of an offense which requires
1 12 registration under chapter 692A shall not apply to reduce or
1 13 be credited against the inmate's sentence until the inmate has
1 14 satisfactorily completed any sex offender treatment required
1 15 by the director.
1 16 Offenses which require registration under chapter 692A
1 17 include offenses defined as criminal offenses against a minor,
1 18 sexually violent offenses, and offenses which would cause a
1 19 person to be classified as a sexually violent predator under
1 20 federal law.
