  1  4 RELATING TO INSTRUMENTS FILED OR RECORDED WITH THE COUNTY
  1  5    RECORDER.

  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 331.602, subsection 1, Code 1997, is
  1 10 amended to read as follows:
  1 11    1.  Record all instruments presented to the recorder's
  1 12 office for recordation upon payment of the proper fees and
  1 13 compliance with other recording requirements as provided by
  1 14 law.  The instruments presented for filing or recordation
  1 15 shall be legible and reproducible, and shall have typed or
  1 16 legibly printed on them the names of all signatories including
  1 17 the names of acknowledging officers and witnesses beneath the
  1 18 original signatures.  The Except as otherwise authorized by
  1 19 the recorder, the instruments shall be no larger than eight
  1 20 and one-half inches by fourteen inches and shall provide a
  1 21 space at the top of the instrument at least eight and one-half
  1 22 inches across the page by two inches in length, on which space
  1 23 shall be typed or legibly printed across the page on the
  1 24 bottom one-fourth inch of this space, the name, address, and
  1 25 telephone number of the individual who prepared the
  1 26 instrument.  The remaining portion of this space shall be
  1 27 reserved for use by the county recorder, except as otherwise
  1 28 authorized by the recorder.
