1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 249A.18 COST-BASED REIMBURSEMENT
1 2 – RURAL HEALTH CLINICS – ESSENTIAL COMMUNITY PROVIDERS.
1 3 Rural health clinics and essential community providers
1 4 shall receive cost-based reimbursement for the provision of
1 5 services to recipients of medical assistance, subject to
1 6 limitations and exclusions based on federal law and
1 7 regulations as determined by the director.
1 8 For the purposes of this section, "essential community
1 9 provider" means a provider, under the medical assistance
1 10 program who provides a disproportionate share of services to
1 11 populations which would otherwise not have health benefits
1 12 coverage or would be underserved in terms of the receipt of
1 13 health care, as designated by rule of the department.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill requires that rural health clinics and essential
1 16 community providers, as defined in the bill, are to receive
1 17 cost-based reimbursement for services provided under the
1 18 medical assistance program.
