1 1 Section 1. Section 321L.8, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code
1 2 1997, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 a. Establishing procedures for applying to the department
1 4 for issuance of handicapped parking permits under this
1 5 chapter, including procedures for issuing, to persons who are
1 6 certified as permanently disabled, permanent handicapped
1 7 parking permits which are not subject to any reissuance or
1 8 recertification requirement.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill requires the state department of transportation
1 11 to adopt rules providing for the issuance, to persons who are
1 12 certified by a physician or chiropractor as permanently
1 13 disabled, of permanent handicapped parking permits which are
1 14 not subject to a reissuance or recertification requirement.
