  1  1    Section 1.  Section 321.266, subsection 2, Code 1997, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    2.  The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident
  1  4 resulting in injury to or death of any person, or total
  1  5 property damage to an apparent extent of five hundred one
  1  6 thousand two hundred fifty dollars or more shall also, within
  1  7 seventy-two hours after the accident, forward a written report
  1  8 of the accident to the department.  
  1  9                           EXPLANATION
  1 10    This bill increases the property damage limit for mandatory
  1 11 reporting of a motor vehicle accident from $500 to $1,250.
