PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 53.11, unnumbered paragraph 2, Code 1 2 1997, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 Satellite absentee voting stations shall be established 1 4 throughout the cities and county at the direction of the 1 5 commissioner or upon receipt of a petition signed by not less 1 6 than one hundred eligible electors requesting that a satellite 1 7 absentee voting station be established at a location to be 1 8 described on the petition. A petition requesting a satellite 1 9 absentee voting station must be filed no later than five p.m. 1 10 on theeleventhsixty-ninth day before the election. A 1 11 satellite absentee voting station established by petition must 1 12 be open at least one day from eight a.m. until five p.m. A 1 13 satellite absentee voting station established at the direction 1 14 of the commissioner or by petition may remain open until five 1 15 p.m. on the day before the election. 1 16 EXPLANATION 1 17 This bill changes the filing deadline for petitions filed 1 18 requesting establishment of absentee satellite voting 1 19 stations.
