  1  4 RELATING TO TRADEMARKS AND SERVICE MARKS REGISTERED WITH THE
  1  5    SECRETARY OF STATE.

  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 548.103, unnumbered paragraph 5, Code
  1 10 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1 11    The application shall be accompanied by three specimens a
  1 12 specimen showing the mark as actually used.
  1 13    Sec. 2.  Section 548.105, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code
  1 14 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1 15    Upon compliance by the applicant with the requirements of
  1 16 this chapter, the secretary shall cause issue and deliver a
  1 17 certificate of registration to be issued and delivered to the
  1 18 applicant.  The certificate of registration shall be issued
  1 19 under the signature and seal of the secretary, and.  The
  1 20 certificate of registration shall show the name and business
  1 21 address and, if a corporation, the state of incorporation, or
  1 22 if a partnership, the state in which the partnership is
  1 23 organized and the names of the general partners, as specified
  1 24 by the secretary, of the person claiming ownership of the
  1 25 mark,.  The certificate of registration shall also show the
  1 26 date claimed for the first use of the mark anywhere and the
  1 27 date claimed for the first use of the mark in this state, the
  1 28 class of goods or services and a description of the goods or
  1 29 services on or in connection with which the mark is used, a
  1 30 reproduction description of the mark, the registration date,
  1 31 and the term of the registration.
