1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 613.17A LIABILITY FOR ASSISTANCE
1 2 BY A VOLUNTEER.
1 3 A person shall not be liable for any civil damages arising
1 4 as a result of acts or omissions of the person which occur
1 5 while the person is acting in good faith as a volunteer on
1 6 behalf of a nonprofit charitable organization, unless the acts
1 7 or omissions of the person constitute recklessness.
1 8 EXPLANATION
1 9 This bill provides that a person who as a volunteer in good
1 10 faith on behalf of a nonprofit charitable organization shall
1 11 not be liable for any civil damages arising as a result of
1 12 acts or omissions of the volunteer. The volunteer shall be
1 13 liable if acts or omissions on the part of the volunteer
1 14 constitute recklessness.
