1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 90A.11 ULTIMATE FIGHTING
1 2 EXHIBITIONS.
1 3 1. A person shall not hold, promote, or participate in an
1 4 ultimate fighting exhibition in this state.
1 5 2. The state commissioner of athletics shall adopt rules
1 6 pursuant to chapter 17A defining the term "ultimate fighting
1 7 exhibition" and distinguishing that type of exhibition from
1 8 boxing and wrestling contests permitted under this chapter,
1 9 from exhibitions or contests of the martial arts, and from
1 10 other sports.
1 11 3. A person who violates this section or the rules adopted
1 12 pursuant to this section commits a simple misdemeanor.
1 13 EXPLANATION
1 14 This bill prohibits a person from holding, promoting, or
1 15 participating in an ultimate fighting exhibition in this
1 16 state. The bill makes it a simple misdemeanor to violate the
1 17 prohibition. The bill also directs the state commissioner of
1 18 athletics to adopt rules defining the term "ultimate fighting
1 19 exhibition".
