1 1 Amend the amendment, H-8796, to Senate File 2391,
1 2 as amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 2, by inserting before line 27 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "Sec. ___. Section 321J.5, Code 1997, is amended
1 7 by adding the following new subsection:
1 8 NEW SUBSECTION. 1A. When a peace officer has
1 9 reasonable grounds to believe that a motor vehicle
1 10 operator may be violating or has violated section
1 11 321J.2, subsection 1, paragraph "c", the peace officer
1 12 may request that the operator provide a sample of the
1 13 operator's urine for a preliminary screening test.
1 14 The department of public safety shall adopt nationally
1 15 accepted standards for determining detectable levels
1 16 of controlled substances in an initial screening test
1 17 for controlled substances."
1 18 #2. Page 3, by inserting before line 8 the
1 19 following:
1 20 "Sec. ___. Section 321J.6, subsection 1, Code
1 21 1997, is amended by adding the following new
1 22 paragraph:
1 23 NEW PARAGRAPH. h. The preliminary urine screening
1 24 test indicates a detectable amount of a controlled
1 25 substance."
