1 2 #1. Page 36, by inserting after line 17 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "Sec. 200. DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS ESCAPEE
1 5 HEALTH CARE COSTS. There is appropriated from the
1 6 general fund of the state to the department of
1 7 corrections for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1 8 1997, and ending June 30, 1998, the following amount,
1 9 or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the
1 10 purpose designated:
1 11 For payment of assistance to counties for health
1 12 care costs billed to those counties for care provided
1 13 to escapees from a correctional facility administered
1 14 by the department due to injuries sustained by the
1 15 escapees in automobile accidents which occurred during
1 16 calendar year 1995:
1 17 .................................................. $ 60,000
1 18 Counties eligible for assistance under this section
1 19 shall file a claim with the department for assistance
1 20 within 30 days of the effective date of this section.
1 21 The department shall identify those counties eligible
1 22 for assistance and approve warrants for payment of the
1 23 claims within 60 days of the effective date of this
1 24 section. If the amount of the eligible claims exceeds
1 25 the amount appropriated in this section, payment of
1 26 the claims shall be prorated among the eligible
1 27 claims."
1 28 #2. Page 37, by inserting after line 10 the
1 29 following:
1 30 "___. Section 200 of this Act, concerning an
1 31 appropriation to the department of corrections for
1 32 payment of assistance to counties for certain health
1 33 care costs of escapees, being deemed of immediate
1 34 importance, takes effect upon enactment."
