  1  1    Amend the amendment, H-8616, to Senate File 2366,
  1  2 as amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
  1  3 follows:
  1  4    #1.  Page 21, by inserting after line 41 the
  1  5 following:
  1  6    "4.  Notwithstanding subsections 2 and 3, for the
  1  7 fiscal year beginning July 1, 1999, and each
  1  8 succeeding year, the total minimum salary supplement
  1  9 paid to a school district under phase I for the school
  1 10 year shall be reduced by the amount of five hundred
  1 11 dollars per teacher per year until the total minimum
  1 12 salary supplement amount equals the amount paid to the
  1 13 school district for the school year beginning July 1,
  1 14 1997, and ending June 30, 1998.  This subsection shall
  1 15 not be construed to permit a negative impact on a
  1 16 teacher's annual salary as specified in a teacher's
  1 17 contract pursuant to the salary schedule adopted by
  1 18 the board of directors or negotiated under chapter 20,
  1 19 or to otherwise control a teacher's placement on a
  1 20 salary schedule adopted by the board of directors or
  1 21 negotiated under chapter 20.  The total amount of the
  1 22 annual reduction required under this section for the
  1 23 previous fiscal year shall be considered a
  1 24 supplemental allocation amount for purposes of
  1 25 sections 294A.9 and 294A.25."

  1 27 inserting the following:  "salary supplement, in
  1 28 accordance with section 294A.5, to be paid to".
