  1  1    Amend House File 2533 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 27, by inserting after line 3 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec. ___.  Section 260C.28, subsection 3, Code
  1  5 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1  6    3.  If the board of directors wishes to certify for
  1  7 a levy under subsection 2, the board shall direct the
  1  8 county commissioner of elections to call an election
  1  9 to submit the question of such authorization for the
  1 10 board at a regular or special election.  If a majority
  1 11 of those voting on the question at the election favors
  1 12 authorization of the board to make such a levy, the
  1 13 board may certify for a levy as provided under
  1 14 subsection 2 during each of the ten years following
  1 15 the election.  If a majority of those voting on the
  1 16 question at the election does not favor authorization
  1 17 of the board to make a levy under subsection 2, the
  1 18 board shall not submit the question to the voters
  1 19 again until twelve months three hundred fifty-five
  1 20 days have lapsed elapsed from the election."
