1 1 Amend the amendment, H-8616, to Senate File 2366 as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 1, by inserting after line 13 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "Of the funds appropriated in this subsection,
1 7 $300,000 shall be used to provide grants in the amount
1 8 of $50,000 each to six school districts for extended
1 9 year school pilot projects, and the department of
1 10 education shall expend up to $60,000 to conduct a
1 11 study of the effectiveness of extended school years on
1 12 student achievement."
1 13 #2. Page 4, by inserting after line 36 the
1 14 following:
1 15 "___. School districts shall expend funds received
1 16 for an extended school year pursuant to this section
1 17 to, at a minimum, install air conditioning in
1 18 attendance centers or finance other infrastructure
1 19 needs of the school district related to an extended
1 20 school year calendar, and to implement a calendar that
1 21 may include, but is not limited to, modification of
1 22 the current one-hundred-eighty-day calendar required
1 23 pursuant to section 279.10, subsection 1. The
1 24 modified calendar shall include a rotation of nine
1 25 weeks of attendance and three weeks of nonattendance
1 26 until the one-hundred-eighty-day calendar year
1 27 requirement is met."
1 28 #3. By renumbering as necessary.
