1 12 "Sec. ___. WATER QUALITY STUDIES. There is
1 13 appropriated from the general fund of the state to the
1 14 state board of regents for the fiscal year beginning
1 15 July 1, 1998, and ending June 30, 1999, the following
1 16 amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used
1 17 for the purpose designated:
1 18 For allocation to Iowa state university of science
1 19 and technology for purposes of conducting studies
1 20 regarding groundwater and surface water contamination
1 21 in this state:
1 22 .................................................. $ 300,000
1 23 The identity of a site selected in conducting
1 24 testing pursuant to a study shall remain confidential
1 25 and shall not be subject to disclosure under chapter
1 26 22. However, the identity of the site shall be
1 27 provided to the department of natural resources, which
1 28 shall keep the identity confidential. The findings of
1 29 the testing shall not be used in a case or proceeding
1 30 brought against a person based upon a violation of
1 31 state law. The university shall cooperate with the
1 32 department of natural resources in designing,
1 33 implementing, and conducting the studies. The
1 34 university shall report all results of the studies to
1 35 the department, the legislative fiscal bureau, and the
1 36 members of the joint appropriations subcommittee on
1 37 agriculture and natural resources of the general
1 38 assembly."
