PAG LIN 1 1 Amend House File 2537 as follows: 1 2 #1. Page 9, by striking lines 25 through 28 and 1 3 inserting the following: "transportation services to 1 4 students as provided in this section and sections 1 5 285.6 and 285.17." 1 6 #2. Page 20, by inserting after line 11 the 1 7 following: 1 8 "Sec. . NEW SECTION. 285.17 TRANSPORTATION 1 9 ASSISTANCE AID TO DISTRICTS. 1 10 1. The department shall pay transportation 1 11 assistance aid to a school district from funds 1 12 appropriated in this section to school districts whose 1 13 average transportation costs per pupil exceed one 1 14 hundred twenty-five percent of the state average 1 15 transportation costs per pupil determined under 1 16 subsection 2. 1 17 2. A district's average transportation costs per 1 18 pupil shall be determined by dividing the district's 1 19 actual cost for all children transported in all school 1 20 buses for a school year pursuant to section 285.8, by 1 21 the district's actual enrollment for the school year, 1 22 as defined in section 257.6. The state average 1 23 transportation costs per pupil shall be determined by 1 24 dividing the total actual costs for all children 1 25 transported in all districts for a school year, by the 1 26 total of all districts' actual enrollments for the 1 27 school year. 1 28 3. A school district shall annually certify its 1 29 actual cost for all children transported in all school 1 30 buses by July 15 after each school year on forms 1 31 prescribed by the department of education. 1 32 4. If a school district's average transportation 1 33 costs per pupil are greater than one hundred twenty- 1 34 five percent of the state average transportation costs 1 35 per pupil, the department of education shall pay 1 36 transportation assistance aid equal to the amount of 1 37 the difference multiplied by the district's actual 1 38 enrollment for the school year. 1 39 5. Transportation assistance aid received by a 1 40 school district pursuant to this section is 1 41 miscellaneous income for purposes of chapter 257." 1 42 #3.
