  1  1    Amend House File 2496 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 69, by inserting after line 24 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec. 101.  STUDY OF INCLUSION OF ADJUNCT
  1  5 INSTRUCTORS IN MEMBERSHIP OF THE IOWA PUBLIC
  1  6 EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.  The Iowa public
  1  7 employees' retirement system division shall conduct a
  1  8 study concerning the issue of whether adjunct
  1  9 instructors employed by a community college or regents
  1 10 university should be allowed to become members of the
  1 11 Iowa public employees' retirement system.  In
  1 12 conducting its study, the division shall seek input
  1 13 from affected employees and employers concerning the
  1 14 possible inclusion of adjunct instructors in the
  1 15 retirement system.  On or before September 1, 2000,
  1 16 the Iowa public employees' retirement system division
  1 17 shall file a report with the legislative service
  1 18 bureau, for distribution to the public retirement
  1 19 systems committee, which contains its findings and
  1 20 recommendations concerning this issue."
