  1  2    #1.  Page 5, by inserting after line 19 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec. ___.  NEW SECTION.  306.9A  ENGELDINGER
  1  5 MARSH.
  1  6    The general assembly acknowledges that U.S. highway
  1  7 65, also known as Iowa highway 330, located between
  1  8 the cities of Des Moines and Marshalltown must be
  1  9 widened for safety reasons.  However, the general
  1 10 assembly encourages the department to avoid widening
  1 11 U.S. highway 65, also known as Iowa highway 330,
  1 12 through property commonly known as Engeldinger marsh
  1 13 to route the improved highway northwest of the
  1 14 Engeldinger watershed, and, to the extent possible,
  1 15 avoid prime farmland and existing homesteads."
