  1  1    Amend Senate File 549, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 3, by inserting after line 24 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "The department of cultural affairs shall begin to
  1  6 plan and coordinate with local and state agencies,
  1  7 other states, and the federal national parks service,
  1  8 and shall prepare to administer activities and
  1  9 programs leading up to and through the celebration of
  1 10 the Lewis and Clark bicentennial of 2003 through 2006.
  1 11 The department shall determine the need for the
  1 12 establishment of a Lewis and Clark bicentennial
  1 13 commission, and shall submit the department's
  1 14 recommendations in a report to the general assembly by
  1 15 January 1, 1998."
