1 3 #1. Page 8, by inserting after line 32 the
1 4 following:
1 5 "4. The department of corrections shall issue a
1 6 request for proposals for the construction of a
1 7 supermaximum security correctional facility at a
1 8 location determined by the department, which would
1 9 only be constructed if the proposal is accepted. The
1 10 department of corrections shall include specifications
1 11 concerning the number of correctional beds in the
1 12 request for proposals and issue the request for
1 13 proposals in such a manner that responses are due and
1 14 shall be included in a report submitted by the
1 15 department to the general assembly on or before
1 16 January 12, 1998. The department of corrections shall
1 17 not accept a proposal received in accordance with this
1 18 subsection without specific authorization through the
1 19 enactment of legislation to fund the proposal."
