1 3 #1. Page 27, by inserting after line 12, the
1 4 following:
1 5 "Sec. ___. JUVENILE JUSTICE INTERIM STUDY. The
1 6 legislative council is requested to establish an
1 7 interim study committee consisting of members of both
1 8 political parties from both houses of the general
1 9 assembly to review and consider the need for
1 10 improvements in the laws and programs established to
1 11 reform juvenile delinquents and reduce juvenile crime.
1 12 The study may include but is not limited to the review
1 13 of the need for improvements in the current juvenile
1 14 justice system, the youthful offender program, the
1 15 programs established to combat substance abuse by
1 16 juveniles, and the coordination of programs and
1 17 information between the juvenile and adult criminal
1 18 justice systems. The committee shall submit its
1 19 findings, together with any recommendations, in a
1 20 report to the general assembly which convenes in
1 21 January 1998."

1 23 word "authorities" the following: ", and providing
1 24 for a legislative study".
