  1  1    Amend House File 266 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 5, by inserting after line 21 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec. ___.  Section 422B.10, subsection 2, Code
  1  5 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1  6    2.  a.  The director of revenue and finance within
  1  7 fifteen days of the beginning of each fiscal year
  1  8 shall send to each city or county where the local
  1  9 option tax is imposed, an estimate of the amount of
  1 10 tax moneys each city or county will receive for the
  1 11 year and for each quarter month of the year.  At the
  1 12 end of each quarter month, the director may revise the
  1 13 estimates for the year and remaining quarters months.
  1 14    b.  The director of revenue and finance shall remit
  1 15 ninety percent of the estimate tax receipts for the
  1 16 city or county to the city or county after the end of
  1 17 each quarter no later than the following dates:
  1 18 November 10, February 10, May 10, and August 10 on or
  1 19 before August 31 of the fiscal year and on or before
  1 20 the last day of each following month.
  1 21    c.  The director of revenue and finance shall remit
  1 22 a final payment of the remainder of tax moneys due the
  1 23 city or county for the fiscal year before the due date
  1 24 for the payment of the first quarter November 10 of
  1 25 the next fiscal year.  If an overpayment has resulted
  1 26 during the previous fiscal year, the first payment of
  1 27 the new fiscal year shall be adjusted to reflect any
  1 28 overpayment."
