1 13 #5. Page 1, line 19, by striking the word

1 16 #6. Page 1, by inserting after line 31, the
1 17 following:
1 18 "Sec. ___. A person eligible to be issued ex-
1 19 prisoner of war special plates who ordered and paid
1 20 for the special plates on or after January 1, 1997,
1 21 but prior to the effective date of this Act shall be
1 22 entitled to a refund from the state department of
1 23 transportation of all fees in excess of fifteen
1 24 dollars paid for issuance of one set of the special
1 25 plates. A person eligible for a refund under this
1 26 section shall submit a claim for a refund to the state
1 27 department of transportation on a form for that
1 28 purpose obtained from the county treasurer.
1 29 Notwithstanding any provision of the Code to the
1 30 contrary, refunds shall be paid by the department from
1 31 registration fees deposited in the road use tax fund
1 32 under section 321.145.
1 33 A person who obtained more than one set of special
1 34 plates under section 321.34, subsection 15, shall
1 35 surrender the additional set or sets of special plates
1 36 not later than the end of the registration year for
1 37 which the plates were issued. A refund shall not be
1 38 issued for additional sets of special plates."
1 39 #7. By striking page 1, line 34, through page 2,
1 40 line 2, and inserting the following: "and is
1 41 retroactively applicable to January 1, 1997."
1 42 #8. By renumbering as necessary.
