                            PRESENTATION OF VISITORS

         The Chair welcomed the following visitors who were present in the
    Senate gallery:

         Forty-four sixth grade students from Guthrie Center Elementary
    School, Guthrie Center, accompanied by Karen Benton, Nancy Beck and
    Randy Mohning. Senator Douglas.

         Forty-five eighth grade students from Dallas Center-Grimes
    Community School District, Grimes, accompanied by Bill Wineland. Senator
    Maddox.



                               EXPLANATION OF VOTE

         MR. PRESIDENT: I was necessarily absent from the Senate chamber on
    March 5, 1996, when the vote was taken on Senate File 2303. Had I been
    present, I would have voted aye.

                              MOTION TO RECONSIDER

         MR. PRESIDENT: I move to reconsider the vote by which Senate File
    2153 passed the Senate on March 6, 1996.

                           CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION

         The secretary of the senate issued the following certificate of
    recognition:

         Amanda Jo Miller, Red Oak - For receiving first place (6th and 7th
    grades) in the statewide 12th annual Write Women Back Into History essay
    contest. Senator McLaren (3-6-96).
