         The Senate met in regular session at 9:03 a.m., President Boswell
    presiding.

         Prayer was offered by the Reverend Dave Boucherd, pastor of the
    Church of Christ, Rising Sun, Iowa.

         The Journal of Tuesday, January 31, 1995, was approved.



                              INTRODUCTION OF BILL

         Senate File 85, by committee on Agriculture, a bill for an act
    providing for the regulation of domestic deer and making penalties
    applicable.

         Read first time and placed on calendar.



                                LEAVES OF ABSENCE

         Leaves of absence were granted as follows:

         Senators Neuhauser and Judge until they arrive on request of
    Senator Horn.



                                   QUORUM CALL

         Senator Horn requested a non record roll call to determine that a
    quorum was present.

         The vote revealed 48 present, 2 absent and a quorum present.



                           BILL REFERRED TO COMMITTEE

         Senator Horn asked and received unanimous consent that Senate File
    84 be referred from the Regular Calendar to the committee on Commerce.

    and Vilsack, a bill for  an act to prohibit assaults upon peace officers
    and fire fighters by providing penalties and enhancing penalties for
    resisting or obstructing peace officers and fire fighters who are
    performing their duties.
