  1  1    Section 1.  Section 724.8, Code 1995, is amended by adding
  1  2 the following new subsection:
  1  3    NEW SUBSECTION.  7.  The person is not the subject of a
  1  4 restraining order or protective order.
  1  5    Sec. 2.  Section 724.13, Code 1995, is amended to read as
  1  6 follows:
  1  7    724.13  REVOCATION OF PERMIT TO CARRY WEAPONS.
  1  8    The issuing officer may shall revoke any permit to carry
  1  9 weapons when the officer learns that any of the conditions
  1 10 required for the issuance of that permit as stated in sections
  1 11 724.6 to through 724.10 have ceased to exist, or when the
  1 12 officer learns that that permit was improperly issued.  When
  1 13 the issuing officer revokes a permit, the officer shall notify
  1 14 the permit holder of such revocation on a form prescribed and
  1 15 published by the commissioner of public safety, and shall
  1 16 forward a copy of the form to the commissioner of public
  1 17 safety.  From the time the permit holder receives notice of
  1 18 revocation, the permit shall cease to have any force or
  1 19 effect.  Permit revocations may be reviewed by writ of
  1 20 certiorari.
  1 21    Sec. 3.  Section 724.15, subsection 1, Code 1995, is
  1 22 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
  1 23    NEW PARAGRAPH.  g.  The person is not the subject of a
  1 24 restraining order or protective order.  
  1 25                           EXPLANATION
  1 26    This bill provides that a person who is subject to a
  1 27 restraining order or protective order is ineligible to obtain
  1 28 a permit to carry weapons or a permit to acquire weapons.  The
  1 29 bill also provides that a permit to carry weapons shall be
  1 30 revoked when the person issued the permit violates any of the
  1 31 conditions for the issuance of the permit.
