  1  1    Section 1.  Section 411.6, subsection 12, paragraph d, Code
  1  2 1995, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    d.  A retired member eligible for benefits under subsection
  1  4 1 of this section is not eligible for the readjustment of
  1  5 pensions provided in this subsection unless the member served
  1  6 at least twenty-two years and attained the age of fifty-five
  1  7 years prior to the member's termination of employment.  
  1  8                           EXPLANATION
  1  9    This bill provides that a retired member of the statewide
  1 10 fire and police retirement system under chapter 411 is
  1 11 eligible for the readjustment of pensions if the member served
  1 12 22 years prior to retirement without any age requirement.
  1 13 Current law provides an adjustment if the member has served 22
  1 14 years and was 55 years of age at the time of retirement.
  1 15    This bill may impose a state mandate as defined in section
  1 16 25B.3.  The state mandate funding requirement in section
  1 17 25B.2, however, does not apply to public employee retirement
  1 18 systems.
