1 1 Section 1. Section 80B.11, subsection 1, Code 1995, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 1. Minimum entrance requirements, course of study,
1 4 attendance requirements, and equipment and facilities required
1 5 at approved law enforcement training schools. Minimum age
1 6 requirements for entrance to approved law enforcement training
1 7 schools shall be eighteen years of age. The federal bureau of
1 8 investigation's minimum vision requirements for entrance into
1 9 its new agents' training program shall be the minimum vision
1 10 requirement for entrance into approved law enforcement
1 11 training schools. Minimum course of study requirements shall
1 12 include a separate domestic abuse curriculum, which may
1 13 include, but is not limited to, outside speakers from domestic
1 14 abuse shelters and crime victim assistance organizations.
1 15 EXPLANATION
1 16 This bill requires the director of the Iowa law enforcement
1 17 academy to promulgate rules that establish the same minimum
1 18 vision requirements for entrance into approved law enforcement
1 19 training academy schools as the federal bureau of
1 20 investigation's minimum vision requirements for its new
1 21 agents.
