1 1 Section 1. Section 124.208, subsection 6, Code 1995, is
1 2 amended by striking the subsection and inserting in lieu
1 3 thereof the following:
1 4 6. ANABOLIC STEROIDS. Anabolic steroids, except any
1 5 anabolic steroid which is expressly intended for
1 6 administration through implants to cattle or other nonhuman
1 7 species unless such steriod is prescribed, dispensed, or
1 8 distributed for human use. Anabolic steroids include any
1 9 salt, ester, or isomer of the following drugs or substances if
1 10 that salt, ester, or isomer promotes muscle growth:
1 11 a. Boldenone.
1 12 b. Chlorotestosterone.
1 13 c. Clostebol.
1 14 d. Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone.
1 15 e. Dihydrotestosterone.
1 16 f. Drostanolone.
1 17 g. Ethylestrenol.
1 18 h. Fluoxymesterone.
1 19 i. Formobulone.
1 20 j. Mesterolone.
1 21 k. Methandienone.
1 22 l. Methandranone.
1 23 m. Methandriol.
1 24 n. Methandrostenolone.
1 25 o. Methenolone.
1 26 p. Methyltestosterone.
1 27 q. Mibolerone.
1 28 r. Nandrolone.
1 29 s. Norethandrolone.
1 30 t. Oxandrolone.
1 31 u. Oxymesterone.
1 32 v. Oxymetholone.
1 33 w. Stanolone.
1 34 x. Stanozolol.
1 35 y. Testolactone.

2 3 EXPLANATION
2 4 This bill amends the section placing anabolic steroids into
2 5 schedule III of the Iowa uniform controlled substances Act by
2 6 listing the actual substances identified as anabolic steroids.
2 7 BACKGROUND STATEMENT
2 8 SUBMITTED BY THE AGENCY
2 9 This bill is needed to provide a more readily accessible
2 10 list of anabolic steroids included in schedule III of the Iowa
2 11 uniform controlled substances Act.
2 12 The purpose of the bill is to provide enforcement agencies
2 13 and the public with the means of identifying substances
2 14 included in this section without requiring access to a
2 15 separate publication, the Iowa administrative Code.
2 16 The intent of the bill is to amend chapter 124 to list the
2 17 specific substances identified as anabolic steroids and
2 18 included in schedule III.
2 19 The bill is intended to provide a simpler means of
2 20 identifying anabolic steroids included in schedule III. The
2 21 bill does not address any specific problems.
