1 3 (SUCCESSOR TO SSB 32)
1 4 A Senate Resolution paying tribute to the memory of
1 5 Dennis J. Nagel.
1 6 WHEREAS, Dennis J. Nagel was born in Edgewood,
1 7 Iowa, received his bachelor's degree from the
1 8 University of Iowa, his master's degree from Rutgers
1 9 University, and his juris doctorate from the
1 10 University of Iowa College of Law; and
1 11 WHEREAS, Dennis J. Nagel served the state of Iowa
1 12 and the public for many years in several different
1 13 capacities including, among others, his service as
1 14 Chairperson of the Iowa Utilities Board for seven
1 15 years, President of the National Association of
1 16 Regulatory Utility Commissioners for one year, First
1 17 Vice-president of the National Association of
1 18 Regulatory Utility Commissioners for one year, member
1 19 of the Governor's Task Force on Uniform Administrative
1 20 Rules for ten years, and as Administrative Assistant
1 21 to Governor Robert D. Ray for eight years; and
1 22 WHEREAS, he will be remembered for his
1 23 professionalism and his straightforward approach to
1 24 addressing issues and to problem solving; and
1 25 WHEREAS, the Senate Committee on Commerce greatly
1 26 valued his advice and counsel on many issues which
1 27 came before the Committee; NOW THEREFORE,
1 28 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That tribute be paid
1 29 to the memory of Dennis J. Nagel, and that he be
1 30 recognized for his many contributions to the citizens
2 1 of the State of Iowa; and
2 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the
2 3 Senate send copies of this Resolution to Dennis J.
2 4 Nagel's parents, Donald and Joyce Nagel, and family of
2 5 Edgewood.
