1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 80F.1 DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE
1 2 EDUCATION (DARE) PROGRAM OFFICERS – TESTING.
1 3 A peace officer who is selected to be a drug abuse
1 4 resistance education program officer, prior to selection,
1 5 shall pass a psychological test and submit to random substance
1 6 abuse tests during drug abuse resistance education program
1 7 training. A positive test result shall disqualify the officer
1 8 from being selected as a drug abuse resistance education
1 9 program officer.
1 10 While serving as a drug abuse resistance education program
1 11 officer, the officer shall submit to random substance abuse
1 12 testing. A positive test result shall result in the officer
1 13 being removed from the drug abuse resistance education
1 14 program.
1 15 EXPLANATION
1 16 This bill provides that a peace officer, as part of
1 17 training to become a drug abuse resistance education program
1 18 (DARE) officer, shall receive a psychological test and submit
1 19 to random substance abuse tests. Once selected as a DARE
1 20 program officer, the officer shall also submit to random
1 21 substance abuse tests while serving as a DARE program officer.
1 22 A positive substance abuse test will disqualify the officer
1 23 from participating in the DARE program.
