1 1 Section 1. Section 481A.57, Code 1995, is amended to read
1 2 as follows:
1 3 481A.57 POSSESSION AND STORAGE.
1 4 1. A person having lawful possession of game or fur-
1 5 bearing animals or their pelts may hold them for not to exceed
1 6 thirty days after the close of the open season for such game
1 7 or furbearers. A permit to hold for a longer period may be
1 8 granted by the department.
1 9 2. Upon request, the department shall issue a permit to a
1 10 person having lawful possession of deer meat to retain lawful
1 11 possession of the deer meat from the close of the open season
1 12 during which the deer was taken until the following November
1 13 1.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill provides that, upon request, the department of
1 16 natural resources shall issue a permit to a person having
1 17 lawful possession of deer meat to retain lawful possession of
1 18 the deer meat until the November 1 following the close of the
1 19 open season during which the deer was taken.
