PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 331.806 ACCESS TO ACCIDENT 1 2 REPORTS. 1 3 A county medical examiner shall have access to all accident 1 4 reports and related appendices prepared pursuant to section 1 5 321.266, subsections 2 and 3, and in the possession of the 1 6 state department of transportation. A county medical examiner 1 7 may make duplicate copies of an accident report or related 1 8 appendices. A county medical examiner shall keep confidential 1 9 all accident reports and related appendices. 1 10 EXPLANATION 1 11 This bill provides a county medical examiner access to all 1 12 accident reports and related appendices prepared pursuant to 1 13 section 321.266, subsections 2 and 3, and in the possession of 1 14 the state department of transportation. Section 321.266, 1 15 subsections 2 and 3, require written accident reports by the 1 16 driver of a motor vehicle involved in an accident and the 1 17 investigating law enforcement officer to be forwarded to the 1 18 state department of transportation when an accident results in 1 19 an injury, death, or property damage of $500 or more. A 1 20 county medical examiner may make duplicate copies of an 1 21 accident report or related appendices.
