1 1 Section 1. Section 239.5, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 2A. In providing additional assistance on
1 4 the basis of a demonstrated special need, the department shall
1 5 not pay for drivers' education charges.
1 6 EXPLANATION
1 7 This bill relates to special need payments under the family
1 8 investment program (formerly known as aid to families with
1 9 dependent children program) administered by the department of
1 10 human services. The department's administrative rules (441
1 11 IAC 41.28 (3)) currently authorize payment for demonstrated
1 12 special needs, in addition to basic needs. The bill prohibits
1 13 payment for drivers' education charges under the special need
1 14 provisions.
