1 1 Section 1. Section 476.91, subsection 3, Code 1995, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 3. REQUIREMENTS. The board shall adopt and enforce
1 4 requirements for the provision of services by alternative
1 5 operator services companies and contracting entities. In
1 6 addition to any other requirements adopted by the board, the
1 7 board shall require an alternative operator services company
1 8 to announce to the end-user customer, prior to the completion
1 9 of the connection associated with the call, the rate to be
1 10 charged the customer and the least costly manner in which the
1 11 call can be made.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill provides that the Iowa utilities board is to
1 14 adopt rules requiring that an alternative operator services
1 15 company announce to an end-user customer the rate to be
1 16 charged the customer for a call and the least costly manner in
1 17 which the call can be made. The announcement is to be made
1 18 prior to the completion of the connection with the call.
