1 1 Amend the amendment, S-5489, to House File 2449, as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the House, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 7, by inserting after line 31 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "Sec. . Section 56.2, Code Supplement 1995, is
1 7 amended by adding the following new subsection:
1 8 NEW SUBSECTION. 3A. "Campaign season" means the
1 9 time period between the filing of documents with the
1 10 appropriate election authority evidencing an intent to
1 11 run for a particular office, through the day of
1 12 election for that office.
1 13 Sec. . NEW SECTION. 56.5B INVITATIONS TO
1 14 EVENTS.
1 15 If an officeholder who is running for reelection is
1 16 invited to any event in the capacity as officeholder
1 17 during the campaign season, any opponent for that
1 18 office shall also be invited to the event."
1 19 #2. Page 8, by inserting after line 34 the
1 20 following:
1 21 "Sec. . NEW SECTION. 56.42A DISGORGEMENT OF
1 22 CAMPAIGN FUNDS.
1 23 On December 31 following a general election for the
1 24 office sought by the candidate, the candidate's
1 25 committee shall withdraw all moneys in the candidate's
1 26 campaign account that are in excess of any amount
1 27 necessary to defray the campaign expenses of the
1 28 candidate's committee, and shall transfer the funds
1 29 according to the provisions of section 56.42."
1 30 #3. By renumbering as necessary.
