1 1 Amend Senate File 2446 as follows:
1 2 #1. Page 13, by inserting after line 10 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "Sec. . There is appropriated from the state
1 5 fish and game protection fund to the division of fish
1 6 and wildlife of the department of natural resources
1 7 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1996, and ending
1 8 June 30, 1997, the following amount, or so much
1 9 thereof as is necessary, except that if revenues from
1 10 the income tax refund checkoff credited to the state
1 11 fish and game protection fund in calendar year 1995 do
1 12 not equal or exceed $1,500,000, the amount of the
1 13 deficiency is appropriated from the general fund of
1 14 the state instead of from the state fish and game
1 15 protection fund, to be used for the purposes
1 16 designated:
1 17 To develop and support a comprehensive nongame
1 18 wildlife-oriented education program to be implemented
1 19 through the schools, county conservation boards, and
1 20 the department of natural resources.
1 21 To enhance opportunities for personal contact with,
1 22 and the public's appreciation for, all types of
1 23 wildlife by developing facilities for public
1 24 appreciation of wildlife.
1 25 To protect, develop, and manage habitats to enhance
1 26 nongame populations on public and private lands
1 27 through habitat development and acquisition.
1 28 To develop and support nongame wildlife species
1 29 management, research, and surveys.
1 30 To match moneys appropriated by the United States
1 31 or an agency, commission, or department of the United
1 32 States if the appropriation of moneys by a state is a
1 33 condition of the state or an agency, commission, or
1 34 department of the state, receiving federal moneys.
1 35 To adopt programs by the division of fish and
1 36 wildlife of the department of natural resources
1 37 relating to a wildlife diversity initiative by rule
1 38 pursuant to chapter 17A:
