  1  1    Amend the amendment, S-5034, to Senate File 2074 as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 3 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Section 1.  Section 347.9, Code 1995, is amended
  1  6 to read as follows:
  1  7    347.9  TRUSTEES – APPOINTMENT – TERMS OF OFFICE.
  1  8    When it has been determined by the voters of a
  1  9 county to establish a county public hospital, the
  1 10 board shall appoint seven trustees chosen from among
  1 11 the resident citizens of the county with reference to
  1 12 their fitness for office, and not more than four of
  1 13 the trustees shall be residents of the city at which
  1 14 the hospital is located.  The trustees shall hold
  1 15 office until the following general election, at which
  1 16 time their successors shall be elected, two for a term
  1 17 of two years, two for four years, and three for six
  1 18 years, and they shall determine by lot their
  1 19 respective terms, and thereafter their successors
  1 20 shall be elected for regular terms of six years each.
  1 21 If county supervisors of the county are elected from
  1 22 equal-population districts under section 331.206,
  1 23 subsection 1, paragraph "b", or single-member equal-
  1 24 population districts under section 331.206, subsection
  1 25 1, paragraph "c", at least one trustee shall be
  1 26 elected from the election district of each county
  1 27 supervisor.  A person or spouse of a person with
  1 28 medical or special staff privileges in the county
  1 29 public hospital or who receives direct or indirect
  1 30 compensation from the county public hospital or direct
  1 31 or indirect compensation from a person contracting for
  1 32 services with the hospital shall not be eligible to
  1 33 serve as a trustee for that county public hospital."
