  1  1    Amend House File 128, as passed by the House, as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by inserting before line 1 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Section 1.  Section 331.555, subsection 6, Code
  1  6 1995, is amended to read as follows:
  1  7    6.  The treasurer shall keep all funds invested to
  1  8 the extent practicable and may invest the funds
  1  9 jointly with one or more counties, judicial district
  1 10 departments of correctional services, cities, or city
  1 11 utilities, or rural water districts created under
  1 12 chapter 357A pursuant to a joint investment agreement.
  1 13 All investments of funds shall be subject to sections
  1 14 12B.10 and 12B.10A and other applicable law."
  1 15    #2.  Page 1, by inserting after line 15 the
  1 16 following:
  1 17    "Sec.    .  Section 357A.11, Code 1995, is amended
  1 18 by adding the following new subsection:
  1 19    NEW SUBSECTION.  12.  Place all funds in
  1 20 investments to the extent practicable and may invest
  1 21 the funds jointly with one or more counties, judicial
  1 22 district departments of correctional services, cities,
  1 23 or city utilities pursuant to a joint investment
  1 24 agreement.  All investments of funds shall be subject
  1 25 to sections 12B.10 and 12B.10A and other applicable
  1 26 law."
  1 27    #3.  Page 1, by inserting after line 31 the
  1 28 following:
  1 29    "Sec.    .  Section 384.21, Code 1995, is amended
  1 30 to read as follows:
  1 31    384.21  JOINT INVESTMENT OF FUNDS.
  1 32    A city or a city utility board shall keep all funds
  1 33 invested to the extent practicable and may invest the
  1 34 funds jointly with one or more cities, utility boards,
  1 35 judicial district departments of correctional
  1 36 services, or counties, or rural water districts
  1 37 created under chapter 357A pursuant to a joint
  1 38 investment agreement.  All investments of funds shall
  1 39 be subject to sections 12B.10 and 12B.10A and other
  1 40 applicable law.
  1 41    Sec.    .  Section 905.6, subsection 4, Code 1995,
  1 42 is amended to read as follows:
  1 43    4.  Prepare all budgets and fiscal documents, and
  1 44 certify for payment all expenses and payrolls lawfully
  1 45 incurred by the district department.  The director may
  1 46 invest funds which are not needed for current
  1 47 expenses, jointly with one or more cities, city
  1 48 utilities, or counties, or rural water districts
  1 49 created under chapter 357A pursuant to a joint
  1 50 investment agreement.  All investment of funds shall
  2  1 be subject to sections 12B.10 and 12B.10A and other
  2  2 applicable law."
  2  3    #4.  Title page, line 1, by inserting after the
  2  4 word "procedures" the following:  "and the joint
  2  5 investment of funds".
  2  6    #5.  By renumbering as necessary.
