1 1 Amend Senate File 459 as follows:
1 2 #1. Page 26, by inserting after line 12 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "Sec. 1000. The governor's traffic safety bureau
1 5 of the department of public safety shall maximize
1 6 funding to the division of health delivery systems of
1 7 the Iowa department of public health during the fiscal
1 8 year beginning July 1, 1995, from the moneys received
1 9 from the federal highway administration due to the
1 10 state's failure to enact a mandatory motorcycle helmet
1 11 law pursuant to the federal Intermodal Surface
1 12 Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991. The funds
1 13 shall be allocated to emergency medical services
1 14 associations for training of emergency medical
1 15 services personnel and for the purchase of emergency
1 16 medical equipment. Funding for emergency medical
1 17 services shall be maximized to the extent that federal
1 18 highway traffic safety funds are not jeopardized."
1 19 #2. Page 29, by inserting after line 32 the
1 20 following:
1 21 "5. Section 1000 of this Act, dealing with the
1 22 governor's traffic safety bureau, takes effect upon
1 23 enactment."
