1 1 Section 1. Section 910.4, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. When restitution is ordered by
1 4 the sentencing court and the offender has been discharged from
1 5 probation before the offender has fully complied with the
1 6 restitution order, the offender may be held in contempt of
1 7 court for failure to comply with the restitution order.
1 8 EXPLANATION
1 9 This bill provides that in the case of a person who has
1 10 been discharged from probation without satisfying an order
1 11 requiring restitution to the victims of the person's crime,
1 12 the restitution order may be enforced through contempt
1 13 proceedings.
