1 1 Section 1. There is appropriated from the general fund of
1 2 the state for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1995, and
1 3 ending June 30, 1996, to the commission of veterans affairs,
1 4 the sum of $2,000, to be donated to the Women in Military
1 5 Service for America Memorial Foundation for the purpose of
1 6 constructing the Women in Military Service Memorial to be
1 7 built at the gateway to Arlington National Cemetery in
1 8 Arlington, Virginia.
1 9 Sec. 2. The director of the commission of veterans affairs
1 10 shall forward this donation to the Women in Military Service
1 11 for America Memorial Foundation upon certification by the
1 12 foundation that sufficient funding has been pledged to
1 13 complete the construction of the memorial.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This joint resolution appropriates $2,000 from the general
1 16 fund of the state for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1995,
1 17 and ending June 30, 1996, to the commission of veterans
1 18 affairs to be donated to the Women in Military Service for
1 19 America Memorial Foundation to construct an appropriate
1 20 memorial at the gateway to Arlington National Cemetery in
1 21 Arlington, Virginia, to pay tribute to the more than 1,800,000
1 22 women veterans who have served throughout the history of our
1 23 country. The director of the commission of veterans affairs
1 24 is required to forward the money when the foundation certifies
1 25 that sufficient funds have been pledged to complete the
1 26 construction of the memorial.
