  1  1    Section 1.  Section 331.427, subsection 1, unnumbered
  1  2 paragraph 1, Code Supplement 1995, is amended to read as
  1  3 follows:
  1  4    Except as otherwise provided by state law, county revenues
  1  5 from taxes and other sources for general county services shall
  1  6 be credited to the general fund of the county, including
  1  7 revenues received under sections 101A.3, 101A.7, 123.36,
  1  8 123.143, 142B.6, 176A.8, 321.105, 321.152, 321G.7, 331.554,
  1  9 subsection 6, 341A.20, 364.3, 368.21, 422.65, 422A.2, 428A.8,
  1 10 430A.3, 433.15, 434.19, 445.57, 453A.35, 458A.21, 483A.12,
  1 11 533.24, 556B.1, 567.10, 583.6, 602.8108, 904.908, and 906.17,
  1 12 and 908.12, and chapter 405A, and the following:
  1 13    Sec. 2.  NEW SECTION.  908.12  COUNTY REIMBURSEMENT
  1 14 CONCERNING PERSONS ON PAROLE.
  1 15    1.  To the extent reimbursement is not received pursuant to
  1 16 section 906.17, the Iowa department of corrections shall
  1 17 reimburse a county for the following costs incurred by a
  1 18 county pursuant to this chapter:
  1 19    a.  Costs incurred in transporting a person on parole for
  1 20 purposes of a parole revocation hearing or a criminal case in
  1 21 which the person is a defendant.
  1 22    b.  Costs incurred in temporarily confining a person on
  1 23 parole during the pendency of a parole revocation hearing or a
  1 24 criminal case in which the person is a defendant.
  1 25    2.  Payment under this section shall be made upon
  1 26 submission of a voucher executed by the county sheriff and
  1 27 approved by the director of the Iowa department of
  1 28 corrections.  
  1 29                           EXPLANATION
  1 30    This bill provides that a county shall obtain reimbursement
  1 31 from the state department of corrections for transportation
  1 32 and incarceration costs a county incurs as a result of a
  1 33 parole revocation hearing or a criminal case involving a
  1 34 person on parole.
